Our History at The Undercliff
There is a lot of history under this cliff... In the mid-1800's, a Mr. Tipton owned this land where Shoal Creek was low enough for people traveling between Joplin & Neosho to make the crossing; the town which grew here was named Tipton Ford.
In 1928, Ab McConnell opened a general store on this site named Undercliff, which is where our name originated from. The store operated until 1961 when Frank & Bonnie's, known for delicious fried chicken (which we do not serve), opened.
In 1980, a fire destroyed the restaurant and the land remained vacant until Undercliff Grill & Bar was established in February of 1995.
